Assessing the environmental effects of the flood risk management plans

Strategic Environmental Assessment

SEPA undertook a strategic environmental assessment to assess the environmental effects of the flood risk management plans.

SEPA published the assessment in an environmental report and consulted the public on the findings between July and October 2021.

The post adoption statement describes how SEPA has taken account of the environmental assessment and the consultation responses. It also sets out how SEPA will monitor any significant environmental effects of the flood risk management plans.

    3. Environmental report – appendices E to R (Assessments for individual Local Plan Districts)

Habitats Regulation Appraisal

SEPA undertook a habitats regulation appraisal to ensure that the flood risk management plans would not have negative impacts on internationally important nature conservation sites. SEPA has added statements within the flood risk management plans to explain how any negative impacts will be avoided. SEPA consulted NatureScot and took its views into account.
