Register of Waste Carriers and Brokers

All registered waste carriers (known as transporters from 1 April 2026) and waste brokers must provide you with their registration number. If they cannot, they may be moving your waste illegally. Check they are registered by asking them for their registration number and expiry date before you hire them.

We are actively making improvements to our public register search facility. For technical reasons, it will not be possible to provide updates to this page during that time, however data up to and including the above date will continue to be available.

As part of our improvements, we have developed a new service, where you will find information on Waste Transporters and Brokers Registrations (WTBR), called “Find Waste Transporters and Brokers”. We expect it to be launched by 1 October, if not sooner, at which point updates will recommence.

In the meantime, if you cannot find what you are looking for, please go to our "Search the Register" service. Using the instructions provided in the help page, you will be able to search the basic data for Waste Transporters and Brokers Registrations under the “Find Authorisations” service.

If you cannot find what you are looking for after this, please email registry@sepa.org.uk who will assist with any enquiries.

Note that waste carriers and brokers based in England and Wales should be registered with the Environment Agency or Natural Resources Wales.

  • "Granted" – authorisation is currently registered

  • "Waste – Waste Broker" – the Authorisation Holder is a registered Broker of Controlled Waste
